His Holiness the Sakya Trizin was born on September 7th, 1945, in the Sakya palace in Tsedong. Immediately after birth, intense rituals were performed to increase his wisdom, including printing the Dhi seed syllable on his tongue. Many auspicious signs occurred. On the day of his birth, a Guru Padmasambhava statue was offered to the palace.

In 1951, he made a pilgrimage to Lhasa. There, when he was six years old, He was designated as the Sakya Trizin - holder of the Sakya throne - by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. One year later, the Dalai Lama performed a preliminary enthronement ceremony, in which the young Sakya Trizin officially accepted his fuctions.

To benefit all people who want to study Buddha´s teachings, His Holiness is turning the wheel of Dharma around the world. He has given teachings in many countries such as India, United States, Canada, Britain, France, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Holland, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Australia, and Nepal, on many occasions, and now in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil for the first time.

On November 25th, 2009, in Lumbini, the Nepalese town where Buddha Shakyamuni was born, high lamas, monks, nuns, and disciples gathered for a great celebration of the golden jubilee of fifty years of enthronement of His Holiness the Sakya Trizin.
